One of my best friends came to visit and it was the best thing. I loved being able to show her where I had moved to and what Nebraska was like. We got to do a lot of things even in the humidity and heat of summertime!
What do you do when someone who has never been here before? Well that was an easy thought, we went to the world famous Henry Doorly Zoo and it was safe to say everyone enjoyed it. Lots of great exhibits and so many animals!

What’s not to like, it’s a zoo filled with all sorts of animals, exotics to one of a kind. I’d have to say that the giraffes were one of my favorites, they were pretty photogenic.
We took her over to Bob The Bridge so she could be in two states at one time over the Missouri River.

We went out to Ashland to go to Cellar 426, since Christina is in the wine industry back home in California, we decided we needed to check out Nebraska wine. The winery was very nice and loved the outdoor patio seating areas, but the wine was definitely different. Let’s just say we had a good time, but the wine was less than desirable for us.
Since Christina loves spooky stuff, we decided that we needed to take her to Hummel Park due to this parks dark past. We also wanted her to experience the morphing staircase. It is said and rumored to be built on the site of an ancient Native American burial ground. Maybe Hummel Park may have been destined for darkness from the beginning.
Christina and Brandon went up the stairs while I waited down below. It was calm out with no breeze. As they started to get near the top of the stairs, I could no longer hear them and the wind started to blow out of nowhere. As they started to descend down the stairs, I could start to hear them again and the wind came to a stop. It was so odd and a little eerie. They had counted a different amount of stairs on the way up then the way down.

The last night she was here was bitter sweet, I never want my friends or family to go home but that is life. We took her out to dinner at one of our favorite steakhouses, Farmer Browns Steakhouse in Waterloo, NE. It did not disappoint and she enjoyed her dinner as we all did. Topped off the night looking out over the 8th floor of the 17th Street Parking garage. Had to get up early to take her to the airport.
